Welcome to the Odum Village Apartments!
Odum Village is a quiet, wooded community housing a mix of undergraduate, graduate, international, and transfer students. Historic oak trees, wooden benches, two basketball courts, a volleyball court, and BBQ grills give Odum a park-like atmosphere. Here, students can live in a full apartment (including kitchen, living room and dining area) while still enjoying the benefits of living right on campus.
Quick Facts
Odum Village is located on the southern end of campus, close to the Kenan-Flagler Business School, N.C. Memorial Hospital, Campus Health Services, the School of Medicine, and the Dean Dome.
Originally built in 1963, Odum Village served as UNC's student family housing until the recent construction of Baity Hill at Mason Farm. The community’s namesake, Howard W. Odum, revolutionized sociology and southern studies at Carolina. He founded the Odum Institute for Research in Social Science.

What Tar Heels are saying
“Instead of halls and floors, we have buildings and neighborhoods. We’re even different from apartment-style Ram Village because we’re spread out in smaller, individual buildings. The people are friendly and mature. There’s a sense of independence that comes from the apartment-style buildings and distance from the rest of campus. It’s also a quiet location with plenty of trees and wildlife.”
-Lionel, Odum Village resident
“Great people, great Resident Advisor staff and Community Director. Awesome housekeeping staff. Impressive community government and office assistants. Wonderful and diverse residents. Altogether just a fun and relaxing environment that you can make feel like home!”
–Porscha, Odum Village resident
“Odum Village has the most diverse resident base on campus. Also, we are able to get an off-campus feel while living on campus, away from a large population of undergraduates in dorms, but close enough to walk to class. We have our own kitchens and living rooms, and do not have to move out during breaks (spring break, winter break, etc.), which offers a lot of freedom for us.”
–Myeshia, Odum Village resident
"The great thing about living in an on-campus apartment is that charges are billed in the same way that residence hall charges are. When you’re not constantly worried about conflicts with others over money, you have more time to focus on what really matters!"
"Ram Village and Odum Village house a diverse population....plenty of opportunities to meet cool new people right in your own community!"
